With this DIY whiskey set from Spek Amsterdam you can make your own whiskey.
The bottle is filled with shreds from wooden barrels of Scottish whiskey. Add a liqueur (not whiskey) and the chips will give off their flavor.

A really nice gift if you don't want to give another bottle of wine.
Add 500 ml gin yourself, let it stand for a while and shake regularly. Filter the liqueur through a fine strainer and your liqueur is ready.
